Early Years Foundation Stage

"The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets the standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s ’school readiness’ and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life." - Statutory framework for the EYFS (March 2017), Page 5

Admissions
We welcome children from all areas of the community. The youngest child admitted to the school must be 2 years old at the time of enrolment. Upon receipt and acknowledgement of the signed application form and registration fee, your child's name will be added to the waiting list. Children are admitted from the waiting list whenever a place becomes available for the term of entry that you indicate on the application form. Sibling applicants who wish to attend at the same time as a child currently enrolled will get preference for admission.
Settling In
Once a place has been offered, you are welcome to come in and spend time with your child to allow him/her to familiarise with the new surroundings and to feel at ease with the staff. All children are treated according to their individual needs when they join us. We understand that this is a time of adjustment for parents/carers and children, we therefore hope to offer our support in any way possible.
Parents
Parents/carers are welcomed and encouraged to be involved during their child's time with Little Montessorians. We hope to offer our help and support in the care and education of your child and to be available to discuss his/her development during open evenings or by appointment at any time during the school term. Parents are invited to help with projects and special activities during the year
Behaviour
We believe that it is important that children are praised and encouraged as this in turn motivates children to want to please and co-operate. If a child is a continuous disturbing factor to others, the staff will take him/her to a quiet place in the room and discuss the reason for his/her behaviour. Under NO circumstances is physical punishment ever carried out within the nursery. If a child continues to act inappropriately, parents will be made aware of the problem and asked to come in for a discussion about possible causes and solutions.
Illness
Parents are requested not to send a sick child to school and to inform the school as soon as possible, especially if your child's illness is contagious. Children with a doubtful rash, sore throat, discharge from the eyes or nose, diarrhoea or head lice must not be brought to school until the symptoms have disappeared or have been cleared by a doctor. Parents will also be notified of any outbreaks of contagious diseases. Please telephone before 10am if your child is to be absent for any reason.
Fees (Please ring the school for details)
All fees are payable on the first day of each term. If your child is absent from school, there will be no reduction in fees.
We offer a total of 10 sessions per week. Children can attend either morning or afternoon sessions or stay for the full day.
